Retained HR

You may already have an individual (normally the MD or the office manager!) in the business with HR responsibility on their ‘to do’ list. However, the requirement to be up to date and working in line with best practice is constant.

We only have to look at the issues that arose when the pandemic started to highlight how important it is to have access to up to date HR advice.

We’ve found, if HR isn’t someone’s sole responsibility it is often difficult to keep on top of it with the other priorities that need to be undertaken. And let’s face it, if something isn’t your area of expertise how often do we move it to the bottom of the pile….?!

We also know having this type of expertise in house is often seen as a luxury and with the average annual salary of an HR Director being in excess of £70k we know it is often out of reach. You don’t necessarily need someone all the time though and therefore our retained HR package offers you HR support when you need it at a fraction of the cost.

So how does retained HR work?

You’ll have the ability to run through any of your people challenges, with CooperativeHR providing a reliable sounding board for you. With your trusted HR advisor, you’ll be offered objective advice – basically an HR director on call when you need it. However as mentioned, it comes at a fraction of the cost, with no additional employers NI, tax, pension, holiday or sickness expenses!

Our retainer packages can offer you peace of mind when you need it, on the phone or via email.

But lets be clear… We’re not offering you unlimited calls and emails 24/7 and we’re not offering you the cheapest price on the market.

We could… BUT, do you really want to call anyone at 2 am? Will you call anyone at 2 am? Where is the value in that offering?

Do you really want to speak to someone in a call centre who doesn’t know anything about your business and probably doesn’t care either? Because that’s often how the prices are kept low.

We want to be clear in that we can’t and won’t compete with some of these companies but what we can offer you is a bespoke and personalised approach.

We will be available Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 5.00 pm (and often outside these hours – not 2 am though!) and you can be confident we will respond to you within 24 hours (but normally a lot quicker!).

We will get to know you and your business. The documents we prepare and the approach we take will fit your culture and needs – not a one size fits all (or often doesn’t!).

Other advice services may give you the advice and send you on your way. At CooperativeHR however, we ensure you are fully equipped to deal with any issue. Whether we provide draft letters, a full step-by-step process or an actual script, you’ll be left feeling confident at dealing with the situation.

We know one size doesn’t fit all so we have a variety of packages depending on the needs of your business.

  • Basic HR Audit with report and Action Plan at the start of the relationship*
  • Dedicated HR Consultant
  • Up to 7 hours expert HR Consultation each month (phone, email and onsite if required)
  • Provision of bespoke and tailored documents, guidance and coaching for all employee relation issues
  • Case management as required
  • Quarterly HR review by phone (current issues and the original Audit)

Enhanced

(£787.50 per month)

  • Basic HR Audit with report and Action Plan at the start of the relationship*
  • Dedicated HR Consultant
  • Up to 7 hours expert HR Consultation each month (phone, email and onsite if required)
  • Up to 3.5 hours onsite for management meeting attendance, strategy planning or training delivery**
  • Provision of bespoke and tailored documents, guidance and coaching for all employee relation issues
  • Case management as required
  • Bi-monthly HR review by phone (current issues and the original audit)

*the HR Audit will give us an indication of some of the areas that are currently working well in the business and visibility of some of the issues we may encounter. If additional work is highlighted as a result of this we will either agree to deliver within the monthly hours allocated and/or agree a project rate for the work to be completed.

** Training preparation and design may incur additional costs

Any regular additional hours will be charged at £85 per hour and all time will be monitored carefully.

We will always keep you informed if you are going over. Time does not roll over at the end of each month. Up to 4 managers can access the service. All our retained packages are subject to a 3-month contract. Please see our terms of business for more information.
